I'm not quite sure yet if I mean having two kids or having one kid that is two . . . but that is why I like the double entendre so much this morning!
Yesterday we had a rough day. We went to Travel Town in the morning . . . and overall we had a good day. But Zachary is definitely trying to assert his independence and simply does not listen to anything you say. Even worse is that he is to the point of doing exactly the opposite of what you say. So every outing with him is a tiring, challenging affair. After naptime we attempted to go for a simple walk and it too resulted in a frustrated Zachary and a frustrated mommy since we butted heads for the entire thing.
But I got a last minute invitation to a business dinner / girls night out with the collection of event planners I hired over the years at Event Solutions. They all still get together regularly and last night they let me crash their party. It was fantastic on so many levels. On the personal front, it was great to catch up with a group of women that I really & truly like AND to get to hit the town for a grown up get together. None of the women are married or have kids so it was truly a kid free (even kid-talk free evening). AND it was a great networking opportunity for me since only one of the women is still with ES. The rest are now event planners around town and I would love to work with each of them again!
Anyway, this morning I woke up a tad cranky due to a couple nights of short sleep in a row (despite sleeping upstairs in Amie's currently vacant room to try and get some decent sleep while Mackenzie learns to sleep through the night) only to find that Mackenzie, once again, appears to be sick. She has another runny nose and threw up a couple of times in a row. I feel like I can never get the whole gang healthy for a long enough period to catch my breath.
So we are keeping it close to home today and keeping an eye on whether we need to cancel our weekend plans or not. We are supposed to bbq with Paul & Shilo on Sunday, but we'll have to see how everyone is feeling. Otherwise, I am very glad it is Friday and am looking forward to an easy weekend.
